When did native IOS begin to support the IDS module?
According to this page
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps2797/products_data_sheet09186a0080092341.html
Catalyst Switch Platform Requirements:
Requires Catalyst Operating System Version 6.1(1) or
higher (not supported in native Cisco IOS. software)
According to documentation for the most recent native
IOS code for the 6000/6500 the IDS module is still
"unsupported hardware"
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat6000/relnotes/ol_2864.htm#xtocid9
The 10 GigE cards are also *not* supported hardware in
the most recent version of native IOS.
One more side note: The new Firewall Service Module
is not supported with native IOS either.
Unless you have the VPN blade, I'd stick with CatOS
Hope that helps
Regards,
Bryan
