PIX 520 upgrade question

Does anyone know what is exactly needed to get a PIX 520 (unlimited) up to
speed for being a good lab pix? It is running 4.4. Do I have to buy
liscenses to get ipsec? Any suggestions on how to make this as cheap as
possible would be really appreciated. Thanks,
