After a few months of lurking on this list, I get the distint impression
that the only certification that gets any respect out there is the vaunted
CCIE.
I can understand why the CCNA doesn't get much respect. There's only so
much substance there.
Why is it that so many snub Cisco's mid-level certification - the CCNP? It
seems that those with the magic 4 digits are particularly vociferous in this
arena. I suppose that there are a handful of folks out there that can get
the CCNP without touching a router, but those can generally be filtered out
simply by glancing at experience.
I get the impression that most CCIEs are in sales engineering and design
positions anyway, which would seem to position CCNPs as ideal "hands-on"
folks to administer networks.
Also, I wonder what the general impression is for the design certifications.
I appreciate any and all feedback.
