Are there any Cisco SE's around here and I'm just wondering what the
requirements are to be one. The reason I'm asking is that a bunch of SEs in
their Ohio office are not exactly the smartest people I've worked with in
general. Some of them sound more like salesmen rather than engineers trying
to answer a question objectively. For instance, when I asked the SE if VoIP
packets are encrypted, the guy got defensive and told me that "well, you
shouldn't worry about this since no one except the IT people will know how
to use a sniffer and decode the packets so I don't think it should be a
concern as far as security goes..." What the hell kind of an answer is that?
This is the kind of answer the makes the real engineers quiver when we see
they're also "Engineers".
I'm not putting down Cisco SEs but it's sad and frustrating that they have
these kinds of people working for them.
Just me bitchin'... :-P
