I hate to say this but, we are seeing the effect of the Band Wagon syndrome.  Us who have been in the market for a while saw the same thing happen with the MCSE certification. I being one of the guys who took the CCNA exam and passed with no hands on give little credit to the test. And if I were an employer I would want someone with hands on experience and not just a CCNA.
The CCNA as one person stated is just a tool to get you in the door and the rest will be up to you. The CCNA is also the starting point for the rest of the Cisco certifications.
Try getting the CCNP or the CCIE both certifications command more respect than the CCNA and will guarantee you a high paying job.

Good Luck to all.

Good luck...it seems there are a lot of us relatively inexperienced CCNA's out there, and companies are NOT hot to hire us.

"Good 'ole" WAN guys...let some newbies into your circle!
