The fog finally clears...
So, with regards to etherchannel, the hashing algorithm is simply a logical
means for the switch to RANDOMLY select which link in a bundle to use.
It is assumed that what ever is being used to hash (last 4 bits in a
mac-address, ect) will occur equally (statistically) across a network.
Therefore, over time, the traffic across all channels in the bundle should
be evenly distributed (ideally).
