Looking at the 2900XL Troubleshooting section on CCO - this one caught my
eye. It deals with high CPU utilization.

Does the switch pass the POST test on startup? Fans work?
You've erased the startup config and reloaded?
Good luck!

Swapped it out now but had a 2900xl go whacky yesterday.

Sometimes connectivity was there, you could ping the switch, sometimes
not. Somtimes telnet to it, sometimes not. Sometimes you could telnet to
it, get a password prompt but it would not accpet a password and would
give 3 password time expired messaages and drop.

Console wise basically the same. Sometimes you could ping out to other
machines within the switch, and outside into and outside the network.
Sometimes not and all.

Do a show run on the console no probs, do a show star and you'd get a
message: nvram currently in use.

Switch had something on the order of about 2 yrs of continuous use with
maybe about half a dozen reloads in that time.

Its on the bench now to try and diagnose it but it sure was whacked.
Anyone else see this sort of behaviour before?

Thanks,
Keith
