Its a known issue with dynamips on Linux that the dynamips instances cannot talk to the host that is running dynamips, which is where the console ports are. To get around this, you need to configure the terminal server e0/0 to map to a tap interface rather then using eth0 or whatever physical interface you have. The second task is to create a bridging instance and add both the physical and tap interfaces to the bridging instance. Unfortunately, the tap interface is create when you start dynagen and you have to add it to the bridging instance after you start the rack and once you stop dynamips it will disappear. You have to keep adding it every time you start dynamips/dynagen so it can become a pain. Another pain is that you have to move the ip address of your physical interface to the bridging interface or you will not have connectivity anymore.

Is this on Dynamips or what?

Hi GS,

I have been trying to create a loopback interface in order to create a
Terminal server instance in Linux. I have succeded in accessing the Terminal
Server from Windows Desktop. But I couldn't access the terminal server in
Linux, although I can ping realworld host ips and not the the laptop ip
which is running Dynamips instances on itself from the TS instance.

It would be great if someone have achieved this, since this will help me to
reduce resources taken by GUI interface in Linux.

Kind regards
