It looks like in Cisco PVSTP+ it sends BPDUs with tags and without tags (duplicate packets). http://puck.nether.net/pipermail/cisco-nsp/2004-March/009079.html So, when all switches are Cisco it is pretty safe to disallow vlan 1, if STP is in concern. Next question is if it is still safe with MSTP. John
