Redistributing your internal network to the backbones

Hi All!

If you had a scenario where you wanted to advertise some prefixes to the
backbone routers via bgp does that imply that you have to advertise your
internal network to the backbone routers via IGP or would setting the
next-hop-attribute on the edge router be enough?

In general is it frowned on to redistribute your internal network to the
backbone if it is not specifically forbidden?
