OSPF subnet mask matching posted 01/30/2003

Hello group
Could anyone explain difference between and in example
if my subnet mask on interface
ip address
router ospf 1
 network area 0
router ospf 1
 network area 0
Both masks on network statement will match subnet mask on Ethernet
interface and interface will be in OSPF area 0.
But what is difference?
