DLSW+ Encapsulation posted 01/31/2001

For the past week I have been attempting get better at DLSW and its various
encapsulation types.

There are 4 different ways that you can establish a connection -

TCP - which works great for me
FST
Direct Encapsulation
DLSW+ Lite LLC2 over frame relay ( I haven't tried this yet )

My test setup is a simple -
workstation---<ether>--router---<serial>---router--<ether>--workstation

when I set up a DLSW session between the two routers using TCP I can
ping/netbios queries/responses are fine.
when I set up a DLSW session using FST or Direct Encapsulation

The show dlsw peers indicates that it is indeed connected but I am unable to
ping or attach across the DLSW link.

Peers: state pkts_rx pkts_tx type drops ckts TCP
uptime
 FST 10.0.0.2 CONNECT 65 56 prom 0 - -
00:20:08
Expected: 0 Next Send: 0 Seq errors: 0
Total number of connected peers: 1
Total number of connections: 1

I know I must be overlooking something but I just can't see it.
HELP....attached are excerpts of my router configs...

Router 1 -------------------------
bridge crb
!
dlsw local-peer peer-id 10.0.0.1 promiscuous
dlsw bridge-group 10
!
interface Serial0
 ip address 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0
 clockrate 125000
!
interface FastEthernet0
 no ip address
 bridge-group 10
!
bridge 10 protocol ieee

Router 2 -----------------------
bridge crb
!
dlsw local-peer peer-id 10.0.0.2
dlsw remote-peer 0 fst 10.0.0.1
dlsw bridge-group 10
!
interface Serial0
 ip address 10.0.0.2 255.255.255.0
!
interface FastEthernet0
 no ip address
 bridge-group 10
!
bridge 10 protocol ieee
!
I guess the the main question is how to you get the direct encapsulation and
FST to pass queries? I know I am missing something and the only thing that
makes since is I am losing my mind...

as always....any insight/constructive comments are always
welcome/appreciated.....
