Hi there,

as far as I am aware, deferred counter is nothing bad as such. it only tells
you that after a collision occurred the interface has hold the packets back
and tried to send it again after a while. As you have 275 collisions that
seems to be pretty normal to me. Collisions on an Ethernet environment are
normal. It is the count of frames being transmitted successfully after a
collision occurred.

Cheers,

Claudia

Subject: collision and deferred errors on pix [1:9135]

hi all in group

how to tackle the collision and deferred errors on a pix 515.
the following information is from our pix 515

interface ethernet0 "inside" is up, line protocol is up
Hardware is i82559 ethernet, address is 00f5.3190.19c6
IP address 10.0.0.22, subnet mask 255.255.0.0
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 10000 Kbit half duplex
3915 packets input, 2528872302 bytes, 0 no buffer
        Received 429 broadcasts, 0 runts, 0 giants
        0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored, 0 abort
        3257 packets output, 3027894 bytes, 0 underruns
0 output errors, 275 collisions, 0 interface resets
        0 babbles, 0 late collisions, 45 deferred
0 lost carrier, 0 no carrier
interface ethernet1 "outside" is up, line protocol is up
Hardware is i82559 ethernet, address is 00f5.3190.19c7
