What happens when you do a "trace route" from host A to B?? Where do the
packets stop?? When you issue a "sh ip route 172.16.10.2" on router A and a
"sh ip route 172.16.30.1" on router B, what do you see? Are these hosts NT
machines? If yes, try a "route print" on their command prompts to see if
there are routes to the other ends.

Subject: Subnet mask/ OSPF Routing [1:3308]
Can ping one way with response from host B to A but not from host A to B. I
can ping host B just fine from everywhere but host A. In Cisco's CIT book I
remember the exact situation which resulted in a subnet masking error but
everything seems to be fine as far as I can see. advice would be
appreciated
Thanks,
